Perfect Match: Facial Skin Care Products for Your Skin Type

Knowing what facial skin care products to use should be easy… But it really isn’t since there is a ton of skin care products out there. So what to do? The most sensible answer is to go by your skin type. Sounds more reasonable now right? You should always use facial skin care products that accommodate your skin type.

Here’s a little test to see for sure what your skin type is. Simply wash your face with water. Wait 20 minutes and see how your skin looks and reacts. This one’s a no brainer – if your skin feels dry or tight, you have dry skin. If your skin actually looks a bit shiny, then you have oily, acne-prone or combination skin. Or, if your skin is none of the above and just feels dandy, well you are lucky because you have normal skin. (Not that the others aren’t normal; they are just more special that need additional attention.)

Cleanser for Oily Skin and Blackheads

If you want a cleanser that will help unclog blackheads and keeps your skin relatively oil-free, then this DIY cleanser made with ingredients you can find in your home is perfect for you! Use it twice daily and you’ll see an improvement in the overall tone of your skin and less blackheads as well. It also helps with calming down the skin and reducing inflammation. This oily skin and blackheads cleanser possesses natural antiseptic properties that is gentle on the skin and, unlike most cleansers, does not contain harsh chemicals that leave your skin oilier or even dry. The antiseptic property of this cleanser reduces the production of sebaceous glands—making your skin less oily.

Ingredients for this oily skin and blackheads cleanser:
• Parsley – 1 bunch of it; you’ll want to use flat leaf parsley in particular
• 8oz non-carbonated mineral water – believe it or not, the minerals in the water are great for acting as a toner

Non-carbonated water typically has these minerals:
• Bicarbonate
• Calcium
• Iron, iodine, copper, zinc
• Magnesium
• Potassium
• Silica
• Sodium
• Sulfate

Procedure:
• Take your parsley bunch and cut it into thirds
• Throw it in a smaller sized saucepan
• Take the mineral water and pour it into the saucepan
• Cover the saucepan and leave it for 24 hours – you don’t need to cook it, just let it marinate!
• After you’ve let it soak for 24 hours, pour the cleanser into a clean bottle – regular water bottles work just fine here

You can pour the oily skin and blackhead cleanser into a smaller bottle for easier access and use. The remainder of the mixture can be refrigerated for later use. After you’ve cleansed your face, just apply this skin cleanser with a cotton swab. Let it soak in and you can proceed with your regular primping routine. This toner and skin cleanser worked out well for a friend of mine. She’s used it ever since and her skin has really shown improvement in tone and quality. Hopefully this oily skin and blackheads cleanser works out for you—you’ll be rid of excessively oily skin and persistent blackheads within days.
